Landmines in Afghanistan
There are millions of landmines scattered across Afghanistan that
will ensure a legacy of mutilation for generations to come. When
war is over, the soldiers go home, but the landmines remain.
There are a number of demining groups that lead a galliant effort to
remove these instruments of war forever. I had the opportunity to
accompany members from the HALO Trust who were working
on a demining project in the Shomali Plains, just north of Kabul.
